Mentorprogram for kvinnelige ledere i norsk idrett
Annual mentoring program supporting female leaders in Norwegian sport with personal development, professional input and cross-organizational networking.
Who is it for?
Female leaders and leadership aspirants in sport
About the program
The mentoring program is a targeted offer to increase the proportion of female leaders in Norwegian sport by facilitating personal development, professional input and networking across the organisation. The program pairs female mentees with experienced mentors (both women and men) in a structured process lasting about ten months.
Content and structure
- The program consists of three joint gatherings spread over roughly 10 months, covering themes such as values and identity, leadership, communication, feedback and networking.
- The gatherings combine plenary sessions for both mentors and mentees with separate sessions for focused training and reflection.
- In addition, 8–10 mentor–mentee meetings are expected during the program period, typically lasting about 1.5 hours; physical attendance is recommended, but digital meetings may be used.
- Training in mentorship and tools for building a good collaborative relationship between mentor and mentee are central to the program.
What participants gain from the program
- For mentees: increased self-awareness, confidence in the leadership role, help with prioritisation, a larger network, emotional support and concrete assistance in preparing for heavier work or leadership tasks.
- For mentors: strengthened understanding of their role, the opportunity to contribute to others' development, increased awareness of values and improved communication skills, as well as better insight into the organisation.
Practical information
The program is held in the Oslo region and normally invites a limited number of participants per cohort (typically around 15 mentees and 15 mentors). Emphasis is placed on commitment to participation and activity during the period, and a good attendance rate is considered important to gain the full benefit of the mentorship. Participants should expect some preparatory and follow-up work related to the gatherings, and the gatherings often conclude with an informal social meeting.
