Programme overview
Career Ready Mentoring connects young people aged 15–18 with volunteer mentors from the world of work. Students meet mentors regularly to explore career options, understand workplace expectations and develop practical employability skills.
Who it's for
Mentees: young people preparing for the transition from education to work. Mentors: volunteer professionals willing to support and guide students.
What participants experience
- Regular one-to-one or small-group meetings with a volunteer mentor to discuss career options and workplace realities.
- Development of employability skills including communication, networking, organisation, problem solving and self-management.
- The mentoring relationship sits within a wider employability programme that can also include masterclasses, employer experiences and paid internships.
For volunteer mentors
Provides an opportunity to share workplace experience and insight, support young people in exploring career paths and help them build the skills and expectations needed for employment.
