About the program
The mentoring program targets rural youth aged 16–30, whether they already belong to an initiative group or wish to form one to apply for the European Youth Village title for their commune. Mentors come from the Alumni Network of European Youth Villages (RE-SET) and offer support based on practical experience gained during selection and implementation phases of local projects.
What mentor support includes
- Access to practical experience of young people from communes that have already implemented the program;
- Assistance with local consultations to identify the needs, problems and challenges of young people in the community;
- Support in community mobilization and in creating/developing the initiative group that will apply for the title;
- Advice on dialogue with local decision-makers and on improving communication with them;
- Guidance in preparing the application for the European Youth Village title.
Participation conditions
Enrollment in the mentoring program is conditional on participation in the Rural Youth Connect Seminar; in the selection process for the seminar, priority is given to young people who also register for the mentoring program. The program is especially aimed at informal groups or future groups formed by young people interested in developing a local candidacy.
Context and implementation
The program is part of the project “Puterea lui #Împreună – Tineri și Sate Europene de Tineret”, a participation project funded through Erasmus+, implemented by Asociaţia pentru Dezvoltare Activă împreună together with Go Free – Asociaţia pentru Sprijinirea Societăţii Civile, Asociaţia Ring the Changes, Organizaţia Tinerilor Dorneni and local initiative groups. This structure provides the institutional framework and resources for practice-based mentoring and experience exchange among rural youth.
