SGH students seeking career support
About the program
The SGH Mentoring Program connects alumni (mentors) with students (mentees) to support professional development, build networks and enable conscious career planning. The program is based on long-term mentoring relationships and on creating an alumni–student community.
Who the program serves
- Mentors: SGH graduates with at least 5 years of professional or academic experience (including holders of a doctoral degree with at least 5 years of academic/didactic experience).
- Mentees: SGH students, preferably in the final year of first- or second-cycle studies, who stand out for academic achievements, social activity or other talents; participation of previous participants may be limited.
How the program works
The program runs in a hybrid format and usually lasts from December to June of the following academic year. Each mentoring pair agrees an individual cooperation plan; mentees take part in a minimum of 5 individual mentoring sessions with their assigned mentor. The timing, format and location of meetings are adapted to the needs of the pair.
Support for participants
- Training and workshops preparing mentors for the mentoring role.
- Joint integration meetings for mentors and mentees and regular experience‑sharing and intervision sessions for mentors.
- Inaugural and closing meetings for all program participants.
Organization and rules
The program is organized by the Warsaw School of Economics (SGH) and the SGH Student Government; it is implemented by the Career and Alumni Relations Centre. The program’s technology partner is a company that provides access to the application used for coordination.
Mentors are selected by Centre staff based on applications, and mentoring pairs are matched by the organizers taking into account mentees’ needs and the type of support offered. Participation is free; final assignment of a pair depends on the ability to find a suitable mentor/mentee match.
