The Uni‑Me Mentoring Program helps UMK students plan an international dimension to their studies through individual mentor support and practical workshops.
Who is it for?
UMK students interested in the international dimension of their studies
About the program
Uni‑Me Mentoring Program is an initiative of the Copernican Integration Centre at UMK that combines mentoring with elements of coaching and advising to help students plan a study path with an international component. The program leverages university partnerships (including the YUFE consortium) and practical workshops to provide mobility and internationalisation opportunities.
How the program works
The program runs in multi-month mentoring cycles that include individual mentoring sessions and a series of workshops introducing mentoring concepts and action planning. The process is supported by tools and materials available to participants and by the program coordinator.
Benefits for mentees
- individual mentor support in planning education and international study stays,
- access to workshops developing mobility-related and personal development skills,
- practical tools and materials to help implement educational plans,
- possibility of receiving a certificate of participation after meeting attendance requirements.
Benefits for mentors
- preparation for the mentor role through training and workshops,
- access to materials and coordination support,
- opportunity to act as an expert and program ambassador and to train future mentors.
Participants and format
Mentors are UMK staff—both academic and administrative—interested in working with students. A typical cycle includes several mentoring sessions (editions have included organizational and closing sessions) and workshops that support defining individual action plans. Mentees who attend the required number of meetings receive a certificate confirming participation.
Experience from previous editions
- the second edition included 29 mentees (including participants from abroad) and 17 mentors,
- 29 mentoring pairs were formed, a significant portion of which concluded their mentoring processes with positive outcomes,
- participants had the opportunity to take part in a series of workshops and several mentoring sessions within the cycle.
Uni‑Me is an offer for those who want to consciously shape their educational path with an international emphasis and draw on the experience of university staff acting as mentors.
