Projekt Mentoringowy UWM
Connects experienced UWM alumni with students and recent graduates, providing individual support for career development through a mentoring cycle plus additional trainings.
Who is it for?
Students and graduates of UWM, and mentors
About the project
The pilot edition of the University of Warmia and Mazury Mentoring Project showed how combining alumni experience with student energy leads to real professional development. Subsequent editions are expanded to give participants more opportunities for learning, inspiration, and building their own career paths.
How does the program work?
- The program is based on a partnership Mentor–Mentee relationship: experienced alumni share knowledge with less experienced participants.
- The mentoring cycle typically lasts around 6 months and includes at least 6 individual meetings tailored to the needs of the pair.
- Participants also take part in preparatory sessions and additional events, such as soft-skills trainings and group meetings.
- Meetings can be held in person, online, or in a hybrid format—mode depends on the pair's preference.
- Pairing is based on analysis of application forms; participants see profiles and can indicate their preferences.
Who can participate?
- Mentee: students of the University of Warmia and Mazury and graduates up to 6 months after completing their studies.
- Mentor: UWM alumni (or graduates of other universities), professionally active and willing to share experience — prior mentoring experience is not required.
Support for participants
- Introductory trainings and materials (workbook) preparing participants for the roles of Mentor and Mentee.
- Assistance in defining goals and an action plan, plus support from the project coordinator at subsequent stages.
- Participation in the program is free of charge for both parties.
Benefits
- For Mentees: practical career support, tools and methods to help achieve goals, increased confidence, and better preparation for entering the job market.
- For Mentors: opportunity to build a personal brand, develop leadership skills, expand professional networks, and the satisfaction of seeing a Mentee progress.
