About the program
The University of Łódź mentoring program connects students with practitioners and experts who share knowledge and experience, helping to plan career paths, develop skills, and carry out ideas beyond the scope of academic classes.
Benefits for mentees
- Defining career goals — working on realistic and ambitious development plans.
- Better understanding of personal competencies — identifying strengths and weaknesses and receiving guidance for development.
- Practical support and inspiration — mentors share experience not found in textbooks.
- Help in implementing plans — from idea to implementation with mentoring support.
- Labour market orientation — learning about possible career paths and professional prospects.
How collaboration works
The mentoring process is carried out in mentor–mentee pairs. Meetings take place regularly, at least once a month for about six months; details on the frequency and format of meetings (in-person or online) are agreed individually within each pair.
Recruitment and roles
- The program is open to all students of the University of Łódź, regardless of level or field of study.
- Applicants for mentee roles prepare a short motivation statement and a CV; a photo of the candidate is also used when pairs are published.
- The application form allows indicating preferred mentors (up to three), but the final decision on mentee selection is made by the mentor.
- Reapplying is not restricted, but priority is given to those who have not previously participated in mentoring.
Program elements
- Workshops preparing mentees for collaboration with a mentor and support during the mentoring process.
- Inaugurations and ceremonial closings of each edition, as well as publication of mentoring pairs.
- The program runs in cyclical editions; materials and reports from previous editions are available as documentation of experience.
For potential mentors
Participating in the program is an opportunity to share practical experience, shape future specialists, and influence the development of young academic talents.
Note: Details regarding the schedule and recruitment rules are set for each edition of the program.
