Mentorordning for arrangører av internasjonale kultur- og idrettsarrangement
A mentoring scheme that gives organisers of international cultural and sporting events advice, skills and networks throughout planning and delivery.
Who is it for?
Organisers of international cultural and sporting events
About the scheme
Innovasjon Norge's mentoring scheme offers advice and guidance to organisers at various stages of planning and delivering international cultural and sporting events. The aim is to share knowledge, increase organiser competence and reduce risks associated with staging large events.
What the scheme offers
- Advice from experienced mentors: The mentor acts as an adviser, not as a consultant.
- Support across multiple phases: Assistance during both the planning and delivery phases.
- Clear focus on knowledge transfer: Emphasis on making experience and networks available to the organiser.
- Timeframe for guidance: Mentor guidance is offered in a limited scope per organiser.
Who it is for
The scheme targets organisations and teams that plan or deliver international cultural or sporting events and wish to strengthen their competence and reduce delivery risk.
Mentors' expertise
The mentors linked to the scheme have broad experience from various aspects of event operations, including:
- work with media rights and international organisations (e.g., FIFA, IOC)
- documented experience from delivering large sporting events (skiing, triathlon, cycling, wrestling and more)
- knowledge from cultural events and festivals
- implementation of sustainability in events
- sponsorship and partnership work, including links between tourism and the public sector
Purpose and impact
The purpose is to strengthen organisers' delivery capacity by adding relevant expertise and networks, and to make knowledge about large international events more accessible nationally. The scheme is based on needs identified in national event strategies and contributes to raising the quality of events held in Norway.
