A mentor does not always need to be someone with many more years of experience. Peer mentoring is based on support between people at a similar stage of life, education, or career, making it easier to exchange experiences, adapt to a new environment, and learn from one another.
Trinity College Dublin's Student 2 Student Mentor Programme pairs trained undergraduate mentors with first-year students to support orientation, campus and library tours, and ongoing social meet-ups to help them settle into university life.
