Overview
The University of Koblenz offers several mentoring programs that students can choose from. The programs address different stages of study and various disciplines, aiming to promote orientation, exchange of experience and networking.
Mentoring for Computer Science and IT degree programs
Target group: Students in the bachelor’s programs Computervisualistics, Digital Business Management, Computer Science and Business Informatics (typically 1st or 2nd semester).
- Format: Small-group mentoring with 2–3 mentees and one experienced student mentor (often a master’s student).
- Duration: Usually one semester.
- Content: Introduction to campus, facilities and labs; exchange on study planning and courses; practical support with study organization and everyday study questions.
Better2Gether – the Uniguides
Target group: Open offer for anyone interested at the university.
- Trained students advise other students on everyday study matters and organize events on topics such as timetable creation, internship phases or the transition to employment or a master’s program.
- The program focuses on practical help, peer exchange and themed events.
Mentoring in teacher education: Reflect – Cooperate – Professionalize
Target group: Teacher education students at the University of Koblenz from the third semester onwards.
- Aims: Support on the path to becoming a professional teacher and promote exchange and networking with stakeholders in teacher education and external experts.
- Focus: Preparing for future professional practice from multiple perspectives through reflection, cooperation and professionalization.
What to expect
- The programs combine personal exchange, orientation meetings on campus and thematic events.
- Mentors are often experienced students; in some offers the advisers are specially trained.
- The variety of offerings allows selecting mentoring appropriate for the respective study phase.
