About the Bundesverband
The Bundesverband soziales Mentoring e.V. is the nationwide umbrella organisation for non-profit organisations and other actors in Germany that organise, strengthen and develop social mentoring. It functions as a network, platform, supporter and centre of expertise with the aim of making the potential of social mentoring visible and promoting better framework conditions.
What is social mentoring?
Social mentoring comprises voluntary sponsorships and support relationships that strengthen people's access to education, participation and integration. Common forms include:
- Leisure and reading mentorships for children,
- Training and career mentoring for young people in challenging life situations,
- Support and accompaniment for refugees,
- Mentoring programmes for older adults.
Activities and services of the association
The association pools knowledge and expertise, issues recommendations for quality standards, fosters exchange between providers and advocates politically for improved framework conditions.
