JA Student Company – Business Mentoring
A year-long JA Czech programme for secondary-school students in which an industry mentor is one of three core pillars, supporting a student team as it runs a real student company.
Who is it for?
Students of secondary, vocational and higher vocational schools, typically aged 15–19
Learning entrepreneurship by doing
JA Student Company lets students experience the full business process during one school year, from establishing a company and creating a product through production and sales to winding the company down. The JA Czech programme is mainly aimed at secondary-school students and is built around practical learning within school education.
A mentor as one of three core pillars
JA Czech describes the programme through three core pillars: theory, the student company itself and an industry mentor. A school or team can work with an experienced business person who helps students place decisions in a real entrepreneurial context; JA Czech can also help arrange a mentor through its mentoring programme.
Skills the programme develops
- teamwork and communication,
- independent decision-making and responsibility,
- contact with professionals and mentors from practice,
- practical understanding of entrepreneurship across a school year.
