Czech Association for Psychotherapy Mentoring Programme
Professional mentoring from the Czech Association for Psychotherapy for early-career psychotherapists who want ongoing support from a more experienced colleague when entering practice.
Who is it for?
Recent psychotherapy-training graduates and early-career psychotherapists
Support when entering psychotherapy practice
The Czech Association for Psychotherapy introduced its mentoring programme in 2024 as an additional form of professional learning for recent training graduates. It is intended to support beginning therapists in setting up their own practice and handling demanding situations that arise during the first years of work.
What the association defines as mentoring
Under the association’s rules, mentoring is an ongoing relationship with a more experienced colleague rather than a one-off seminar. It can be individual or group based and can take place face to face or online. In the standard arrangement, a mentor is expected to have at least seven years of practice after completing comprehensive psychotherapy training.
Joining and professional development
- A participant can find a mentor at their workplace, through the ČAP offer or within the professional community.
- The completed number of mentoring hours can be formally confirmed.
- Mentoring can count toward part of the continuing professional development requirement under ČAP rules.
