k+ mentoring (VŠB-TUO)
A short-term mentoring program connecting students with professionals for practical advice, skills development, career guidance and support with bachelor’s or master’s theses.
Who is it for?
University students seeking career development
What the program offers
k+ mentoring provides students with a personal mentor for 2–3 months who supports orientation in the world of work, career planning, skills development, writing bachelor’s or master’s theses, and building professional contacts.
Why join
- You will get orientation in career paths and key skills.
- You will clarify career goals and set concrete steps to achieve them.
- You will receive practical advice, know‑how and potential professional contacts.
- The mentor can help with topic formulation, thesis structure and finding sources.
- At the end you will receive feedback, a certificate and the opportunity to network with other participants.
How the program works
- Selection and application: The mentee reviews mentor profiles and selects a suitable candidate; the application typically includes a video introduction from the mentee.
- Matching: After the deadline the program pairs mentors with mentees; the organizer seeks a suitable mentor for each student.
- Meetings: Mentoring usually runs from March to May; the minimum is three meetings, held in person or online by agreement; it can also involve joint project work or shadowing the mentor in practice.
- Conclusion and evaluation: After completion there is feedback, issuance of a certificate and a final meeting with networking opportunities.
Roles of the mentee and mentor
- Mentee: Actively sets goals, engages in communication, asks questions and uses the information gained for professional development.
- Mentor: Provides expert support, shares experience and contacts, gives feedback and helps define realistic goals.
Practical tips
- The program includes preparatory workshops/webinars that help improve chances of acceptance and advise on creating the video introduction.
- The recommended length of the video introduction is 1–2 minutes; it should be concise, clear and authentic.
k+ mentoring is suitable both for students who already have a clear idea of their career and for those who are still exploring it — a mentor will help you discover options and direct your next steps.
