About the program
The alumni mentoring program offers personal and professional development through direct contact with experienced alumni. Its aim is to transfer practical experience, career advice and concrete recommendations from practitioners to current master's students.
What the mentee gains
- Access to practical experience – mentors share real-world experience from the field.
- Career development tips – help with planning the transition to professional practice and finding a career path.
- Professional and personal growth – development of communication and other skills.
- Networking – building contacts that can help when searching for internships or employment.
- Motivation and inspiration – meetings with successful alumni can open up new possibilities.
Mentoring process
Each mentor is assigned one student based on the submitted CV and motivation letter; in its current form the program connects approximately ten mentoring pairs. The official mentoring period usually lasts three months, during which at least three meetings (online or in person) are recommended. Meetings typically include discussions about career, the transition to practice, and how workplaces function; pairs may adapt the content to their needs. The mentee initiates meetings, and a brief feedback is required at the end of the period.
For mentors
The program is an opportunity for alumni who wish to share their experience, expand their professional network and support the next generation of students. It offers mentors meaningful collaboration with motivated students and the chance to influence their professional development.
Experiences from the pilot
Participants in the pilot year appreciated the individual approach of mentors, practical advice, inspiring conversations and concrete help with job searches or decisions about further study. Many noted that the relationship with their mentor continued after the official period ended.
