Sindbad connects young people with free personal mentors for 8–12 months to support their entry into upper secondary school or an apprenticeship.

Short description
Sindbad pairs young people with volunteer mentors who accompany them for 8–12 months while they search for and enter upper secondary school or vocational apprenticeship training. The program is free for participating young people.

How Sindbad works
Each mentee receives a personal mentor for several months. Mentors support future planning, application questions and confidence building; at the same time they gain insight into different life situations and participate in a modular training offer. The program operates regionally at several locations in Austria.
Impact and quality
- By June 2026, 8,865 young people had been reached; the goal is 10,000 participants by the end of 2026.
- 83% of mentoring pairs complete the program.
- Of those, 83% achieve entry into an apprenticeship or further vocational training.
- 94% of mentees in the most recent cohort would recommend Sindbad.
